Welcome to the Koru Room at Rockmybaby Childcare Centre – Havelock North

Where children and whānau grow together – because tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.

The Koru Room is our dedicated space for infants and toddlers, designed to nurture each child’s wellbeing, growth, and development in a calm and loving environment. The word koru symbolises life, new beginnings, strength and peace – values that are deeply woven into everything we do here.

We are passionate about providing high-quality, respectful care and early learning experiences for our youngest tamariki. Our experienced and devoted teaching team has been carefully selected for their knowledge, compassion, and commitment to working in partnership with whānau. We value reciprocal relationships, honouring the aspirations and routines that each family brings with them.

  • Our Daily rhythm

Our day flows gently, following each child’s individual cues and needs. A balance of free play, planned experiences, kai times and rest creates a rhythm that supports wellbeing and learning in a natural, unhurried way.

Our peaceful sleep room caters for both infants and toddlers, supporting transitions from cots to beds. We embrace whānau-led sleep routines and provide high-quality eco linen for each child to ensure comfort and continuity of care

  • Our Learning Environment

The Koru Room has been thoughtfully designed to support the developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces offer rich opportunities for exploration, movement, and sensory play, while maintaining clear sightlines to ensure safety and supervision at all times.

Respectful interactions, consistent care, and strong communication between kaiako, tamariki, and whānau are central to our practice. Through responsive teaching and a curriculum guided by each child’s interests, we foster curiosity, independence, and connection from the very beginning.

  • Kai/meal times

We believe that nourishing kai supports the body and the mind. Our onsite cook lovingly prepares wholesome, nutrient-dense meals using fresh, local produce wherever possible. Tamariki enjoy a variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and balanced meals that fuel their play and growth.

We work with each whānau to understand and meet any individual dietary needs, ensuring every child feels included, safe, and well cared for at mealtimes.
