Welcome to the Teina Room at Rockmybaby® Childcare Centre – Napier

Where children and whānau grow together – because tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.

Teina refers to a younger sibling or person, and it perfectly reflects the nurturing, respectful environment we provide for our youngest tamariki in the Teina Room. This is where their early learning journey begins — in a calm, loving space that supports their development through responsive care and meaningful relationships.

Our Philosophy

We are passionate about delivering high-quality care and education that is grounded in respect, trust, and partnership. Our kaiako have been carefully selected for their dedication to infant and toddler wellbeing and for their ability to create a warm, safe, and engaging environment.

We value reciprocal relationships with whānau and actively encourage their input, aspirations, and involvement in their child’s learning. Our teaching team works collaboratively to create age-appropriate experiences and opportunities for exploration, connection, and growth.

  • Our Daily rhythm

Our day is guided by the natural rhythm of each child. We follow their cues and routines, creating space for uninterrupted play, calm kai times, and restful sleep.

We love connecting with our wider community through regular walks to the local park and shared experiences with the Te Puna Room. We also celebrate special events and moments together, deepening connections with our whānau and each other.

To support busy families, we offer a convenient van pick-up and drop-off service, beginning from 7:45am.

  • Our Learning Environment

The Teina Room has been purposefully designed to meet the unique developmental needs of our youngest learners. Both our indoor and outdoor spaces are safe, inviting, and filled with sensory-rich learning opportunities. Clear sightlines ensure that tamariki are well-supervised while engaging freely in play and discovery.

Our kaiako build strong, trusting relationships with each child, fostering open communication and respectful interactions that support emotional security and confident exploration.

  • Kai/meal times

We believe that nourishing kai supports every aspect of a child’s growth and wellbeing. Our passionate cook prepares fresh, nutrient-rich meals each day in our onsite kitchen, using seasonal produce and whole-food ingredients sourced locally where possible.

We cater to all dietary requirements and work closely with whānau to ensure that every child feels safe, included, and well-nourished.
