Welcome to the Mana Room at Rockmybaby® Childcare Centre – Havelock North
Where children and whānau grow together – because tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.
The word Mana holds deep meaning, encompassing strength, confidence, charisma, and integrity. In our Mana Room, it reflects the spirit of our growing tamariki as they develop their independence, identity, and sense of self in a supportive and nurturing environment.
We are dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education that honours each child’s individuality. Our passionate teaching team has been thoughtfully selected for their commitment to building strong, respectful relationships with tamariki and whānau. We work together to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and valued.

Our Daily rhythm
Our day flows in a way that supports the natural rhythm of our tamariki. Through a balance of free play, small group experiences, creative expression, and moments of calm, we provide a predictable yet flexible structure that supports learning and wellbeing.
Rest is available for children who need it, and our peaceful ‘room of rest’ features beautiful eco linens provided for each child. We support toileting in a calm, respectful way, working closely with whānau to ensure consistency and encouragement.
We also enjoy celebrating birthdays, centre events, excursions, and time spent reconnecting with our friends in the Koru Room – strengthening bonds and building a sense of community.

Our Learning Environment
The Mana Room is thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of toddlers and young preschoolers. Our spaces – both indoor and outdoor – invite exploration, challenge, creativity, and connection, while ensuring safety through clear sightlines and close supervision.
Learning is guided by our group’s interests and our termly focus, which evolves from both individual and collective learning goals. Our kaiako support tamariki to build confidence, express themselves, collaborate with others, and develop a growing understanding of their world.
Respectful communication between children, teachers, and whānau is a cornerstone of our approach, helping to build trust and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Kai/meal times
We believe nourishing kai is the foundation of a healthy, happy child. All meals are freshly prepared onsite by our passionate cook, using seasonal, whole-food ingredients and locally sourced produce whenever possible.
Mealtimes are calm and social – a chance for tamariki to develop independence, practice self-help skills, and enjoy nutritious food in a supportive environment. We’re happy to accommodate any dietary needs to ensure every child feels included and cared for.
