Welcome to the Te Puna Room at Rockmybaby® Childcare Centre – Napier
Where children and whānau grow together – because tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.
Te Puna means “a spring of water” – a source of life, growth, and continuous learning. This space is designed for our older tamariki as they gain confidence, independence, and a greater awareness of the world around them. It’s a place of energy, curiosity, and exploration, where every child is supported to flourish in their own unique way.
We are passionate about delivering high-quality care and early childhood education that reflects each child's individual journey. Our teaching team is carefully selected for their dedication to fostering strong, respectful relationships and creating an inclusive, empowering learning environment.
We value the contributions and aspirations of whānau, working together to support the holistic development of every child – emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively.

Our Daily rhythm
Our daily rhythm offers a balance of free play, group experiences, rest, and kai — guided by the interests and needs of the tamariki. Children are encouraged to lead their own learning, explore new ideas, and collaborate with others in a supportive and stimulating environment.
We provide a restful space with high-quality eco linens for tamariki who need downtime during the day. Toileting is supported respectfully, with guidance that encourages independence and self-care.
Our programme is guided by a termly focus that evolves from the children's interests and learning goals, ensuring the curriculum remains meaningful, engaging, and child-led.

Our Learning Environment
The Te Puna Room is purposefully designed to meet the developmental needs of our older toddlers and preschoolers. Both the indoor and outdoor environments are rich in opportunities for exploration, challenge, and connection — while ensuring safety with clear visibility and well-organised spaces.
Tamariki are supported to take greater ownership of their learning, build friendships, and develop the confidence and skills they’ll carry with them into the next stage of their learning journey.

Kai/meal times
Nutrition plays a key role in supporting the wellbeing of tamariki. Our in-house cook lovingly prepares wholesome, nutrient-dense meals using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
Mealtimes are calm, social, and respectful — offering opportunities for tamariki to develop independence, try new foods, and enjoy shared moments of connection. We are happy to cater to all dietary needs to ensure every child feels safe, included, and well nourished.
